Shelby Rolling Admitted to Columbus State University

Shelby Rolling, of Columbus, GA, has been admitted to Columbus State University for the fall semester.

Rolling, who is a member of the Class of 2016, will be majoring in Health and Physical Education.

The fall 2012 freshman class is the latest to come in under Columbus State University's elevated academic standards, which have been rising for the last three years at a rate higher than most other universities in the state. Some statistics from this year show the results from this move toward admitting more academically qualified students:

• Overall honors program enrollment is up 24% from last fall.

• First -time freshman enrollment in the honors program is up 27% from last year.

• Number of first-time full-time freshmen with 1200 or above SAT scores is up 43% from last year.

Just 100 miles southwest of Atlanta, Columbus State enrolls more than 8,300 students in nationally distinctive programs in the arts, education, business, nursing and more.
